Conclusion

Bill Gates is a good businessman and Co. Founder of Microsoft. He tries to make the best out of his business and tries to make it the best workplace. He tries to make his employees make the best work by having good employees and let them have a good working environment which can affect the speed of their work and the outcome of their product development, advertisement and etc. He comes up with ideas and also follows other ideas to help make the working place democratic. He does not abuse his power in the workplace and just let the workers be free and work by themselves.

Bill Gates Training Method

Bill Gates does not train his employee’s because the universities and colleges is what train them to work in the future. Universities would train them through the course that the students would pick themselves. After three or four years, they would complete the university and they would have to fill their curriculum vitae. And when he wants to recruit he would look at their resumes and have an interview whether they have the qualifications of their curriculum vitae. When Microsoft became a big company and became famous, he had to recruit employee’s that has learnt about recruiting employers. Then after that, the employers would gain work experiences and help recruit and train the employees at the same time which would help the company/ business expand and learn different ideas. Bill Gates will train them according to their department and see if they are in need of help.

Recruiting Employee's

Bill Gates does not recruit his employees, but when he first started Microsoft he had to recruit some employees, so he did fliers and got some application which then had led them to being one of the leading system providers in the world.  For Example, when he became the leading system providers in the world a lot of people would want to join his company because it is famous and so he started to have a department that is specifically for recruitment and training. This is the department when a group of people would have sets of questions and does an interview with the interviewee’s too see whether they are qualified for the job they had applied.

Corporate Culture

Bill Gates is a man who does not like to use his power and money just to show that he is rich. He uses his money for an investment which does not mean he has the Power culture in the corporate culture. But he has the Role Culture because he divides the companies into different divisions and making each of them have a unique task to work at. For example, they are dividing on the commercials and promotions, and then another group is divided for making the product itself. It depends on the company itself, if it is Microsoft then it would be divided into product development and another group would be doing the commercials and the advertisements.

Motivation Usage from Bill Gates

Since Microsoft is a big company and it is too big for Bill Gates to control, he then tells the highest ranking for each department to motivate their workers with different methods and see which one would work best. But the motivation that is recommended from them is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs which means that they would help people understand in what stage they are at for their product or what they need help for their product. For example, Bill Gates had first announce the Windows system and so it was in the growth rate and then in a few years’ time they started launching different kind of Windows from Windows 97 and Windows XP.

Organizational Structure of Microsoft

Since Bill Gates in the Chairman, he is the person responsible for the company and workers which would make him the top of the organizational structure and Steve Ballmer under him. After the CEO, the structure then expands into different departments. For example, it will expand to Department of Finance and also Department of Commercials. I have an example of their Organisational Structure here:

As you can see in the organizational structure, it starts up as Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer on top, then it expands into different department to stabilise the companies fund, products and others. The whole Microsoft Company is a Democratic and Laissez Faire leadership styles which is good for the working environment.

Leadership Style of Bill Gates

Microsoft current leaders are Bill Gates, Paul Allen and Steve Ballmer. Steve Ballmer became a CEO on the year 2000. Steve Ballmer is an autocratic leader because he does not communicate or take advices from his employees. For example, when they were designing the Microsoft Surface, Steve Ballmer did not put any ideas inside and when someone gave an idea he then disagrees. Whereas Bill Gates is a democratic leader because he took the Paul Allen’s advices and ideas of the company name and also the company objectives which had helped Microsoft grow throughout the years. For example when Bill Gates was in Harvard and Paul Allen was in MIT. He had gone to Albuquerque just to establish Micro-soft and then later on he had changed it to Microsoft. Paul Allen is a Laissez faire leader because he had given Bill Gates the choice to stay in Harvard or to come to him at Albuquerque and start making BASIC interpreters together.
